Bayard de Hart American Legion Post #13 is celebrating turning 100 years old. We are inviting the community to join us in this most historic event.

Along with that we will be dedicating a memorial stone in our flag park for a local man who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

Ralph is a Richland Center native who lost his life in the Korean War but has no gravestone anywhere to recognize his life and ultimate sacrifice. Read on to help fix this.

Bayard de Hart American Legion Post #13 in Richland Center, Wi is turning 100 years old! We are inviting the community as a whole to help us celebrate. July 27, 2019 there will be events all day at the Post located at 900 U.S. Highway 14 W. in Richland Center. The days events will include the dedication of a granite monument to recognize Ralph Jackson.

9 A.M. 2 MILE REMEMBRANCE WALK/RUN

This is open to all ages and abilities. It is intended to gather and enjoy our flag park while remembering those who have served and are serving in the armed forces of the United States of America. With special emphasis on those who never returned. No registration necessary, just please join us and stay after for all the events that follow.

10 a.m. 32 team double elimination Cornhole tournament

Registration fee of $20.00 per team with 50% of fees paid back to top 3 finishers. 1st place 45%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 25%. Event to take place rain or shine as it will be held under cover. Registration 10 - 10:45, throwing begins at 11:00 sharp. First 32 teams to register will participate.

10 a.m. motorcycle poker run

Registration fee of $10.00 per participant with 50% of fees paid back as above. Run will be 5 stops with door prize drawings at each stop. Registration from 10 - 10:45 leaving promptly at 11 a.m.

bounce houses all day free of charge

12 p.m. Euchre tournament. $10.00 entry fee with 50% off registrations paid back.


1:00 p.m. registration for Pedal pull youngsters ages 4 - 12 free of charge. Put on by Kindschi Pedal Pulls. Pulling starts at 2 p.m. Number of pullers is limited so register early.


5:30 p.m. Cake cutting ceremony for 100th birthday. Unveiling of Ralph Jackson memorial stone. Comments from local dignitaries.


7 - 11p.m. Dr. Rumley Snuff band with no cover charge.


Food and beverage will be available on site all day and evening. Please no carry ins.

Ralph Verlin Jackson

Growing up

Ralph grew up in Richland County and graduated from Richland Center High School in 1948. Ralph was in track and FFA. Ralph also played guitar in a high school string group. He volunteered his free time in high school in the movie operators club operating movie projectors for other students to enjoy. He wanted to be a farmer as his lifes goal. Ralph had 3 brothers and a sister. Picture below shows a young Ralph with sister Louise.
